SHORT TERM MISSIONS TRIPS

WE GO... the Bible teaches that believers are to take the salvation message of Jesus to “the ends of the earth”. (Matthew 28:19). Most churches support professional missionaries to fulfill this obligation, but we believe that the going is an important part of the development of the church. Those who Go are transformed by their act of service and always return with a stronger commitment to Christ and His Church.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU GONE ON THESE TRIPS?

Stroudwater has been engaged in cross-cultural missions since 1990. Over 560 individuals have gone on trips with us to places like; Nigeria, Cameron, Haiti, Baja Mexico, Nicaragua, and Guatemala.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

Our primary goal is to preach the gospel, and when necessary we use words. That means that we show GOD’s love through humanitarian relief. Our projects include: Building Environmental stoves that consume 80% less wood fuel, and emit no cancer inflicting smoke. Installing Bio-Sand water filtration systems in each home, creating clean drinking water. Hanging misquito netting to fight the Zika virus and Malaria. Building composting toilets to eradicate fecal matter polluting water supplies. Pouring cement floors stopping the infestation of parasites in the home. Doing Dentistry improving general and oral health. Drilling fresh water wells for communities with no water source. Supplying school and literacy items to support the teachers and the local school. Building structures like Medical clinics, homes, and churches. All of these are done in the Name of the LORD.

WHEN DO YOU GO and HOW LONG ARE YOU GONE?

Typically we go during school vacation week in February. We usually leave the Wednesday prior and return the Wednesday of. These days may vary depending on airfares and availability.

WHERE DO YOU STAY?

It has been our experience that team members need a safe environment that refreshes them after a hard days work. All the hotels we stay in are air conditioned, have showers, swimming pools, food and beverage service, house keeping, and if possible- an ocean view. Keeping the team healthy and refreshed allows them to give their best to the projects and the people of the villages we serve.

IS IT SAFE?

All International travel has risks. We have never had a major event occur with any of our trips for over twenty years. However part of your fee purchases Emergency Medical and Political evacuation insurance and basic travel insurance including Foreign medical.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

The average cost for the past three years has been $1700.00 per person. The most volatile element in the trip is the airfare that can dramatically change the pricing of the trip. Each year we lock in the rate by August to guarantee our pricing does not fluctuate.

CAN I REALLY HELP?

Yes, all you need is a servant’s heart. Our project team leaders are excellent at training each team how to do their projects. The leaders will work with you allowing you to both get dirty and master a new set of skills. We encourage rotation so you can see all the different things we are doing, but of course everyone has their favorite project.

WHAT ARE THE LOGISTICS?

You need time off, many experienced team member take an extra day off at the end of the trip to do laundry and settle back home. You will need a passport, some medical shots are recommended, and of course you will have to endue 90 degree heat in the middle of February!
